12 Dec 2002

by Mazfix

Mazfix at Hi-Tech Shoot Out Willowbank Circuit Racing. Jerry in his Rotorolla wins Willowbank Drag racing event, Tim Kreis in his wheel standing Cortina runner up, Arch top E.T.

Jerry wins event

Mazfix's Jerry Kehl took out the recent November 30 Willowbank Racing Fast Fours, Sixs and Rotary Class, with an equal personal best time of 9.5sec @ 149mph. The experiment 13B Peripheral Ported Turbo Engine is now getting the power to the ground after new suspension work. The final on the night was an all Mazfix affair with Tim Kries lining up beside Jerry.

Tim Kries runs 9.6 sec

At the same Willowbank event Tim ran a personal best time in the final of the night. The time of 9.6 secs meant he broke out and was runner up for the night. The 9.6sec run sweetened the lose to Jerry and not bad for a Mazfix 10sec package. The famous wheel standing Cortina is untubbed and standard rear cortina suspension.

Arch Back Racing

Archie returned to Willowbank for the 30 Nov event to use the event as a test run, after his Jamboree crash. The Rx7 ran the top qualifying time. The car is running well but suspension not fully sorted yet and caused some handling problems, fixed by minor adjustments and will be going straight again by next event

The damage done from the Jamboree Crash.

Is that a smile on Archie's face now the car is fixed and back on the track?

Race Crew of Ken Miller, Bryce Miller (of Miller Signs) and Shane insured a smooth event.

Ken Otto's Series 4 Rx7

Ken's series 4 was converted by the Mazfix team from a non-turbo to a turbo Rx. The 13B Turbo engine is powered up further by a Mazfix spec TO4, front mount intercooler and LT8 Microtech ECU. Currently has 286hp at the wheels.

7 x 7 Seconds

Sunday 12 January Archie ran no less than an impressive SEVEN 7 second passes at the Willowbank TestnTune day in the lead up to the Australian Nationals. The best time of the day being 7.77sec @ 176.40mph using the gas on this run. And also a 7.78sec @174mph without the giggle juice. The nitrous tune is still very fat and faster times will happen once the nitrous is fine tuned.

Australian National Open

The Australian National Open Drag Racing event was a two day event at Willowbank Raceway held on 18th & 19th January 2003. Archie took out the Prestigious Gold Medallion for Fastest Qualifier in Super Sedan. Archie also reset his previously held national record down to 7.78sec.
