1ST IN THE WORLD to break the 200MPH

17 Jun 2004

by Mazfix

WE DID IT! and WE DID IT FRST! In front of a jam packed Winternationals crowd on Sunday 13th June 2004 we set two amazing new records. The history making run of 6.99sec @ 201.52mph gains us the prestigous title of FASTEST Rotary in the WORLD.

The first time in history a Rotary has broken the 200mph barrier.

Thanks to all the fans and competitors for your well wishes. The same run also makes us the FIRST Rotary in Australia to record a 6 second Pass and makes us one of only three Rotaries in the world to run a 6sec pass joining Abel Ibarra (USA) & Jose Torres (Puerto Rico)

The Winternationals Sunday racing saw the Mazfix car run 3 quick passes with the following times:

7.27sec @ 192mph

7.22sec @ 195mph

6.99sec @ 201.52mph

NO GAS & NO Fuel Additives were used. ANDRA and Willowbank Officials tested our vehicle and Fuel on all of our runs for the Weekends competition.

On the 6second pass we were in the third round of racing with a 15 minute turn around time and no time to pit and adjust the clutch which is the reason for the 60 ft of 1.12 which is very slow compared to our normal 1.05 60ft. The clutch didn't slip and made the car bog down. I knew the pass was quick but when I saw the Fire and Safety Crew jumping up and down at the bottom of the track I knew it must have been a good time. One of the Fire Crew ran over to the car and told me my run was a 6.99 and ran an amazing 201.52mph I was over the moon.....and still haven't come down.

Down the return road the crowd went crazy and back in the pits the whole crew was estatic.

As you can see from the video footage, it wasn't a clean pass, getting a little sideways at the begining. So, bring on the clean pass and see what we can really do!!
